So last night was an experience i'll not forget in a hurry.
Some of you know, some of u don't, i am a Twilight addict....atleast i thought i was, but apparently im nothing compared to the masses here in America. Today is the 20th November and the release of the Twilight Saga's new movie New Moon. So a few weeks back i scheduled this day off, as i knew this film would be released a little after midnight and did not want to be scheduled for work at 8am after watching a film til 2am!
So me and some friends got to the cinema at 9pm, after already purchasing our tickets for $9.50 each, and joined a short queue outside the theatres that would be showing the film. we made sure there was 2 of us keeping our place in the queue at all times and went off to do various things, such as find my glasses that id left in the car, but retraced our steps to find it, go buy food and drinks, go to the toilet etc. and they had entertainment too, a small band with a male guitarist and female singer dressed as bella and edward and playing the songs from the soundtrack, and they had character lookalikes wandering around as well, so it didn't feel like we were waiting too long.
Now when we got there at 9pm, pretty early i know but we had nothing else to do, there was about 20 of us in the queue, and we were probably the only ones NOT in twilight tee shirts and things. By 10.30 there was a 100-200 of us, and we were still the only 5 out of maybe 10 not in twilight gear, so we bought the drinks tht cme with free cups lol. We couldn't decide wether we were the only cool people in there, or the only uncool people....
So anyway, they finally opened the theatres and i swear, the whole room started to feel different. I know it sounds strange but we were just very AWARE of the craziness that could and would erupt. the atmosphere totally changed and ill be honest...i felt a little scared.
We were loudly declaring within our small group "if they start running i swear down, we are all here in the same line wanting the same thing, if they start running and screaming we swear blah blah blah" I think this was our own personal shield and by doing this we felt a little safer and maybe the people around us wouldnt turn crazy.
It sort of worked.
The line started moving into the first theatre, and we were following everyone inside, when 2 girls, started pushing past us. Well you know me, i wasn't having any of that, so i walked right down the center of the corridoor so they couldnt pass me, started climbing the stairs and picked a row to sit on ( u dont get designated seats like in England) so i moved half way down, so we had seriously good seats and turned to see these girls following me down the row and stopped beside me. So i said oh, im sorry, these seats are saved, and the cow turned and said oh. sorry. and sat down anyway. i just stared in utter disbelief. This sad cow in her team edward teeshirt was so selfish, childish and obnoxious and just sat down anway, even though if she hadnt have pushed she wouldn't have got those seats. the steam started to leak out of my ears, and my hands turned into fists, and i knew i would have to move down the row away from them or i would say something that would get me kicked out of the theatre. i seriously could not believe she had just done that. so i moved all the way down the row and tapped my foot, concentrating on regulating my breathing, whilst grinding my teeth and shaking my head.
seriously, the attitude of people REALLY bugs me. I know it sounds like i was overreacting but it just infuriated me so much that people think the world revolves around them and are unaware of the people around them and so inconsiderate.
So me and my friends started talking about what had just happened....only i decided the only way i could safely let off steam, would be to talk LOUDLY about how inconsiderate and childish the people beside us were. (yes i know that is childish too, but trust me, i was sooooo pissed off i needed to vent so i wouldnt explode in their faces) And i know they could hear me, as the people infront and behind us were sniggering at my comments! Until i took it a step too far and said "Seriously, just cos america is a big country doesn't mean they own the world, so selfish, god!"
That wasn't such a wise move, seeing as we were surrounded by americans. I kept quiet after that :-s
So my bitching only lasted 10 minutes while i calmed down and vented, and so it was about 11.30pm, and the film didnt start till 12.15 (well the trailers started at 12.15) so for the next 45 minutes i then had to endure long legs behind me who obviously didnt have enough leg room and kept kicking the back of my chair. I didn't complain about it as i thought i probably deserved it after my last remark, and it wasn't too bad. Plus as angry as i get at people, im really a wuss and would do bad in a confrontation of physical attack. Im all talk, and ill tell people what i think of them, but if it ever came to fighting, im already running away!
So the theatre was full by midnight, but only the crappy seats at the front were available from around 11.45pm, so at around 12.13 people started shouting out a countdown till edward/jacob. guh. the idiots obv didnt remember there is such thing as trailers, and the trailers then started at 12.15 and went on till around 12.30 ish. One of the first trailers had kristen stewart (bella) in, and the last trailer had rob pattinson (edward), and when he came on screen all the crazy twilight addict kids started screaming and cheering and wooooing and me and my friends all turned and looked at each other. One of us loudly remarked, they better not do that all the way through the film. tsk!
Ok and then the film. was amazing. deffo a better director than the first film, it matched the book better and was sooooo good, just amazing. i decided i was team jacob anyway...edward is a lost cause, bella has him, i could happily fight for jacob if it wasn't for renesmee...but anyway, jacobs bod was FA...HIT! yummy, i couldnt care less he is younger than me!
***side note: a burger king advert has just come on the tv, and they have free new mooon merchandise...so im having burger king for tea tonight :-D***
Oh, also, not sure if you guys know, but here in america, when u go to watch a film, everybody reacts to what goes on, so the whole theatre will cry/laugh and comment on whats happening. its not like in england when its silence so u can watch/hear the movie.
so anyway during the film, the first time edward came on the screen, everybody gasping and ooed and aaahed and pathetic stuff, which was annoying, and then the same with jacob. and then when jacob took his top off. and all the way through the darned film. GRRRRR. and for some strange reason everybody laughed at really random places, they laughed all the time at bella's dad....when there was nothing funny happening. and when funny stuff did happen it wasn't small sniggers, it was loud hysterics so you couldn't hear the next line that was said in the movie. and then they laughed at other random scene where bella and edward were running together, and other random places. me and my friends were very confused. And then there was a scene were jacob says to bella "and you think im kind of beautiful" and some girl in the audience said "I DOOOOOOO" and everybody laughed at that so you couldn't hear the next line. that really pissed me off too!!!!
So from what i could actually hear of the film, it was AMAZING, and i will be first in line for the DVD!!!!!
As we left at the end we were all a bit pissed we had paid $10 to listen to a loud of crazy ass teenage american girls with their high pitched voices ooooing over rob pattison. look girls, u r nowere near his league, ur pathetic, grow up and get a life. I think its pathetic they went to the film just to see the actors/charactors. I know your laughing right now, but i didnt go to see the film for the men, they were an added bonus, i went cos i've read the books and enjoyed them, watched the film and enjoyed it, and i wanted to see this film for what it is as a whole, not to see a celebrity actor im heavily in love with.
GROW UP.
but yeah, im still really pissed about the whole stealing the chairs thing. if i'd been more prepared for that i would have kicked their ass!
Im off to read the book now anyway :-D
